GOOD WEBSITE DESIGN requires a whole suite of skills. Great
design skills, of course, but also an understanding of information
architecture. The free-form relationship between the elements
of a website is radically different from the linear nature
of most print, and demands quite a different approach. Beyond
that, good website design demands a broad technical understanding
in areas like browsers and their quirks, color palettes and
how they play out in the video display world, and file compression
and how it can make a site fast and a pleasure to navigate.
