AgRA uses Wiki technology to relate comprehensive information on animal diseases, agricultural facilities, personnel, and capabilities in countries of concern. It is built on an extensive set of world maps showing current disease states for 25 key diseases as well detailed country-level maps that inventory institutions and personnel. Analysts use this tool to identify animal disease presence and to assess industrial, academic, and scientific infrastructure suitable for potential anti-agricultural endeavors.
For ease of use, GDA wanted to make AgRA’s mapping component interactive. However, AgRA has to be able to function in very limited technological environments, and thus we couldn’t use any complex Javascript or other modern web technologies. To solve this challenge, GDA designed and built elegant interactive maps using nothing but HTML and CSS.
