MindTrials is an online training regimen that uses an evidence-based program to help people with anxiety learn to cope with unexpected situations through a process called Interpretation Bias Training. It asks participants to imagine themselves in a situation and then select letters to complete words that describe how they might react in the given scenario. By encouraging users to imagine different outcomes than they might normally expect, it helps them learn to cope with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and other anxiety or panic disorders.
GDA designed both the introductory website for the project as well as the interface for the trainings. Our goal with the training interface was to keep it as simple and straightforward as possible to help users focus on the situations they are being presented with rather than being distracted by the interface doing the presenting. The interface was also designed to work equally well via mouse-and-keyboard interaction as well as on touchscreen devices.
