CHS Orchestra European Tour--July 7 to 17, 1998

July 11, 1998

We reluctantly left Salzburg this morning and headed to Vienna. After a break and a lunch stop we arrived in Vienna at the Hotel Accordia at 2:00. The hotel is a bit more classy than last night's--very clean but dorm-like in appearance. The opening ceremony at the Vienna Center began at 4:30 and was quite impressive. Many countries are represented and the groups were entertained by the Amadeus Boys Choir and a British Symphony. We returned to the hotel for dinner and then returned to the Vienna Center for a dance with the band The Playboys. The band played a wonderful variety of country, rock, 50s music, and an international repertoire. The kids loved it and even some of our shyer students were wild when out on the dance floor, entertaining us with the Macarena and the chicken dance.

Vienna is beautiful and there is a really high Ferris Wheel which the kids are bound and determined to ride. Tomorrow we perform twice. We'll keep you posted.
